Came across this thing a few days ago: [link]
It was an old, old thing, one of the first complete 3D renders i made. I thought it might be fun to do another take on the general theme of a water temple. This is what came out. I'm a little annoyed with the foreground being so empty, I tried a whole of different things to fill it but nothing seemed to feel right. (ideas tried included a fountain/altar, a waterfall, debris on the ground, and scattered gold treasure). In end I just decided to leave it blank.
The statue in the back was a bit of an experiment with the new dyntopo sculpting tools in the upcoming Blender 2.66 release. Since I'm a bit inexperienced at sculpting still, I figured I'd go for something simple and tried for one of those simple goddess figurines. I think it came out ok. Took 3-4 different tries to figure out how to clean the mesh up though. Retopo tools are never magical enough. >
Created in mostly in Blender, main shot rendered out in LuxRender, a few extra bits (like the sunbeam) rendered in Blender Internal (still good for something some days!)
